GET ON IREADY!!! [TEACHER ASSIGNED LESSON]
CLICK ON LESSON - Identifying Theme on I-Ready
Opening: Today I will model analyzing a particular sentence, and scene, to understand what it contributes to the development of the theme using Character Response and/or Change Anchor Chart:
1. Considering the problem the character faces,
2. How he responds to the problem,
3. and why it might be important to the character’s journey.
Using “The Fight” paragraphs 1-13, I will complete a mini-lesson with think aloud, on how to trace the steps. Using the plot diagram chart [STORY MOUNTAIN} will help me identify the events that move the plot towards the resolution. [CLICK LINK]
Work Session:
Use Character Response and/or Change Anchor Chart To practice thought process in unpacking how a scene or sentence contributes to the overall theme of the novel. Look through the text to identify the best textual evidence that trace the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
Independent Practice: Read Ch. 6/7 of The Lightning Thief
EXIT TICKET - WITH IPAD POST TO PADLET
Answer Question Posted: How did Ch. 7 fit into the overall structure of the text? How does it contribute to the development of the theme, setting, or plot? How did Ch. 7 move the Lightning Thief story along?
